Near Here (poem)

Near Here

Near here
She frolicked in the water
And her bikini top slid up
Exposing two ice-cream-scoop breasts

Near here
He helped an old man
Who had stumbled in our path
Exposing the softer side of humanity

Near here
I ate coconut shrimp for the first time
At the restaurant with the bocce ball courts
Exposing willingness to try new things

Near here
I watched a sunset with my family
The evening before a trip overseas
Exposing the vulnerability of a new life

Near here
Would never be the same
If I had never been
Near here
