Rearview Illusions (poem)

Rearview Illusions

Driving that highway
Staring at dusty yesterdays
In the rearview
He relived use-to-be’s
Present moments squandered
As those blue hour stars
Sparkled in the windshield
Begging to be appreciated
And counted
