Gray (poem)

Gray

Masterful balance
This thinking and feeling
A toe on each truth
Of yin and yang
Harmony within
Halves of a whole
My peace to gauge

Sodbuster (poem)

Sodbuster

Under that green patch
Plowed earth
Scarred and furrowed
Quite a spread
For this scratching farmer
Fumbling around
With a hoe

The Encyclopedic Life (poem)

The Encyclopedic Life

These hands unmaze
Truths and untruths
The pedigree
Of deep bruisings revealed.
Worldly words
My sacred geometry
Metaphoric
Of the hidden heroine
Within

Birdsong (poem)

Birdsong

This exposed nest
On it’s bare winter branch
Is offering all
Defensive twigs woven
Now flighted and enlightened
She’s gone
Gentle on the wing
High in the canopy
Birdsong amplified

Winded (poem)

Winded

I found
Our inspiration
Breathing in succession
Something hallowed
Rambling about the room,
The earth
This energy air
Conjoined
And here I am
Winded

Dawn of Eve (poem)

Dawn of Eve

Chastise my kink,
But I’ll be here
Coming undone
Worshipping the moon
And being whimsical;
My paganistic gypsy ways
Bangled wrists
And amethyst altar
Beckoning planes
In other dimensions

Unpraised Man (poem)

 Unpraised Man

About your quest to know a man
Consider all his motives
To those souls seeking innocence
Hear this undoing of his votives

A story-teller spins a yarn
Manipulation weave and weft
Collecting pieces here and there
The camouflage akin to theft

Then charisma charms the weak
Alas, deceit unfolds
Telling tales of angelic men
Toting their plates of gold

A magic rock will do the trick
Placed in a darkened hat
Hiding smirks with whispered words
“Scribe my prophecies!” he spat

Then gatherings were like a drug
Fueling the widened fire
As power clasped the hand of wealth
Call down the heavenly choir

An angel with a flaming sword
Would most surely do him harm
Lest the virgins would not submit
To him and all his charms

As glyphs were sold and glyphs were bought
A broad kingdom was at stake
Thus the deceiver was deceived
With finesse to expose a fake

Downtrodden lead throughout the land
Severing brains from hearts
Blistered hands mere busywork
Childlike burdens of their carts

Until at last the press was set
To unravel all perversions
For the thinking mind to think
And question all conversions

And so dethroned he sat in jail
The stolen tokens just a farce
A mob rose up, the man fell down
Founding members all so sparse

Until regrouped they soldiered on
The deception born again
So ask yourself dear followers
Whose belief you would “Amen”

Cognitive Dissonance (poem)

Cognitive Dissonance

Oh, the fairy tales
Of woebegones
The sanctuary
Of spirits gutted
With uncrossed arms,
Unsaintly now
Forever after smutted

Ink Joy (poem)

Ink Joy

If these scribblings had swag
A jotted invitation
Like lyrical silk
Festooned in celebration
My rosy response, pink as cheeks
Would be
A wink and a flourish

Finding His Magic (poem)

Finding His Magic (for Corbin)

Smoothing that page
Of false hieroglyphs
Those defiled ashes
A resurrected Phoenix
To transcend oneself
Conjuring
And drawing new lines
Flying his own
New-winged colors

Model Moon (poem)

Model Moon

Wanted to be lenticular
Lounging in that cradle
The one with the moon
And you there
Enraptured
By my phases
With your finger on the shutter

Just Breathe (poem)

Just Breathe

When a pen in the hand
Spills ink onto the paper
In multitudinous words
In multitudinous colors
Of red dirt and cerulean skies
When the envious alchemy you seek
Is the simplicity of just being there
Feeling the heat
Skin gathering the dust
Go there yourself
Write your own story
And just breathe

Tribal (poem)

Tribal

Reason embraces
Thoughts
And souls

Genuine affinities
Being
Three to ninety
Four-legged and two
Even the frilled florals
Transcend the garden edge,
Encourage my way,
And make my spirit full

Searching for Wild Strawberries

Another day
Another fruit for the basket
While I sit
Listening for the call
Of the mockingbird;
That middling on the branch
Who understands.

Snapped

He laughed
At her cartoonish snap
Until
The comic stripped down
No joke
Lines to circumvent
