Honeycombed (poem)

Honeycombed

It’s about wishing
On stars
In galaxies
In your eyes

It’s mythical
Honey in jars
Epicurean
Off the saucer deliciousness

Sentiment (poem)

Sentiment

New Mexican
Red desert sand
Rests on the windowsill
Hot breezes put it there
Following canyon-like crevasses

Brushing it away may help
But days like this
Will always remind me
Of lilac springtimes
In Ohio

Patterns (poem)

Patterns

Constantly keeping track
Patterns ebb and flow
Fibonacci eddies

Kitchen tiles
Hot coffee with creamer swirls
Egg curves in rows

Torrents of love
Bed springs
Petals like splashes

Torrents of lies
Choreographed times, dates
Stacked stones

Brain waves
Memories
Fired and misfired

Bee Nothing (poem)

Bee Nothing

You used to be a talisman
A quasi crucifix
For all to emulate
Being about the busyness

Now
You’re just near-sighted
And kinetic
Like all humankind

But honey is still sweet
I still worship you
And the flowers you walk on

Quiet (poem)

Quiet

Quiet
Is the gentle
Glide of wings
Through morning light

Willow branches
That hang in still air,
Sunlight
Warming my skin

Nothing preconceived,
quiet is just there
Waiting for me.

Tasty Words (poem)

Tasty Words

I don't speak Italian
I speak food, though
And make yummy noises
In my mouth
My favorite word
Today
Is
"Pizzelle"
Take a taste for yourself
Taste the "P" first
Puff it out on your lips
"P", "Pah", "Piiii"
Now try the "i"
It's the short "i", like in pig
It's right there
On the edges of your teeth
Next
Are those luscious "zz's"
They seem to sizzle
Tip tongued, tasty, sliding back
Ah,
Time to swallow, eh "elle"
Gets stuck
In the throat
And now
You have eaten your Italian word too
