Girl Talk

Sometimes in the comprehension

Of being there now

Of having been there then

On being female

And sharing those

“Yes, I know” moments

There is a hushed

Patois

Reserved only for us

I understand justice

And reasonable doubt

But this senseless death

Coupled with the resultant verdict

Has left me

Wordless

Hopeless

Stunned into

A futilitarian sulk

If only whispers-

Could swell to a shout.

Trowel in hand
You mortar it thick
Building blockades
Stonewalling
To quell your desire

Your undoing-
My unharnessed feminine wiles
Swinging
Like a wrecking ball
Through a fortress

I have heard all your lines
Saw them
As woven words
Used threads
And nothing but
My junk aporia
Grasped
As paltry pocket lint
To offer back

And you,
A weak essay on guilt
Step up again
Stitching needles in hand
With mere hems and haws
Fabricating half-truths

Girl Style

Thinking back on these things

At the point

Of suffrage

Beyond wearing the pants

Is a long way to go

And incomprehensible

To have a voice

To be heard

To gather all of these

Is

Another salute to freedom-

Girl style.

I've Seen These Places

I've seen these places
When the sun goes down
And wanting
When the strings of bulbs
Are lit
And the mixed drinks
Spill out into the night
To drink some Jack,
Feel the bedlam swirl inside,
And dance on tables.

Slipping Through

Collapsing

Falling back

I spin by that dream

Trying to hold

Deciduous light

Slipping through my fingers.

Like your face in my hands

And that kiss.
