Ambition (Poem)

 

Ambition

You asked me about ambition

And I replied “That’s a little too rapid fire

For me. I’m more of a plain Corn Flakes

Kinda gal, before all the hoopla”

Strawberries and sugar are alright,

Don’t get me wrong –

But if I am going to start somewhere

I will be comfortable here in black

And white.

Figuring out shadows and light

Being vulnerable

Building strength

And then kicking down doors.

Minimal (Poem)

 

I wanted to see the complexities 

Absorb them

Make them my own

All the detail

Minute, yet universal

I wanted a lightbulb to go off

And flash me the answers

To the riddles

And the jokes that were on me

But here we are

And I am not laughing

Although I am going to dance again

Hips swaying

And hair swinging.

Escape (Poem)

 

I wanted to play the mystic

And spin things with my feet

Such as love knots

and melodies

I wanted to wake up quaking

And feeling the invincibility 

I had in dreams

To make things true

I wanted to be the one

To eat lotus

Using petals as my mainsail 

and escape this reality

Yet

I have

with a shutter.

I had these dreams

And I wished they would take flight

They were written

In places like

Journals

And carefully balanced

On heartstrings

Then one day

I felt a surge

And I lept

Somehow this place
Was secret
And quiet
So I watched from above
And I longed
To just
Absorb solitude

And then it took flight

Collapse of the Red-Orange Sundress (Poem)

A mere fraction or fractal
Of red-orange time
Slides downward.
Precision etched and threaded
Between you and I
Watching, anticipating
Waiting for one more slip
And an alteration
Of this frilled adornment
That falls away to the undressed night.

Convergence (Poem)

Looking ahead where paths converge
Walking by moonlight to quiet merge
Chasing days with nocturnal rhyme
Piloting through a venturous clime

Mantled together in the cold
Moments to capture, keep, and hold
Our footfall hushed in emblazoned snow
Escape with me across this floe
